Due to its creation process, white rum may be the most unique type. White rum is made from sugar cane distillate, which is watered down and bottled. Rum is usually left to age in a barrel for years before bottling, and the longer a rum is brewed, the darker it gets. White rum is instead not aged for long and can be bottled unaged or, at most, having aged just a few years, giving it a distinctive clear colouring. At Whisky Kingdom, we have numerous impressive brands, like Diplomatico, from across the Caribbean and Wales.
Due to its creation process, white rum is not as strong as dark rum, so it has a much wider range of mixers it can be combined with. Both lemon and limes work great to add to your white rum cocktails. The sharp citrus flavour combines beautifully with the aged spirit. The classic mixer Coca-Cola is a classic for a reason; the go-to mixer provides a great-tasting white rum cocktail. Finally, tonic water, usually reserved for a gin cocktail, works great, adding some bitterness to the sweetness of the white rum.
