The Maker’s 46 is aged a bit longer inside barrels containing seared French oak staves.
The staves create bolder, more complex flavours – while eliminating the bitterness that usually comes with whiskies that are aged longer.
Crafted by affixing ten seared, French oak, staves into a barrel of fully matured Maker's Mark and ageing it a few more months to intensify the level of caramelised wood sugars in the bourbon
Maker’s 46 is aged only under cold conditions, below 10°C, where bourbon matures more slowly
46 is the number of experiments with different varieties of wood and levels of char it took to achieve the perfect balance
Maker’s 46 is a higher strength bourbon which offers an enhanced flavour profile.
