Billy Walker, legendary icon of the whisky industry, has a unique philosophy. Let’s call it the philosophy of wood. The distillery has an annual wood budget of over £2 million, which allows his team to source the very best casks.
He constantly assesses the maturing spirit, transferring it into fresh wood to infuse it with more layers of complexity.
Glenallachie 7 Year Old Hungarian Oak is a single malt premium Speyside whisky, which showcases Billy experimenting with special varieties of oak.
The new make spirit was first aged in American oak ex-bourbon barrels and then transferred for 18 months to Hungarian virgin oak casks, infusing it with vibrant oaky spice.
It has flavours of orchard fruits, heather honey, milk chocolate, butterscotch, brown sugar toffee, cinnamon and ginger and comes at a strength of 48% ABV. It is natural colour and non-chill filtered.
This is a well-balanced, silky-smooth whisky of great richness.
